Christie's do these guitar auctions very well. I guess they should as it is what they do!
I was involved with the first Eric Clapton Guitar auction, which was the one that got the ball rolling. I think it was in 1999. I was the consultant of all things resophonic, Supro, Valco etc. At that time I was the person Christie's called for information and valuations of this type of stuff. It was interesting to be involved with the Christie's company and with the Clapton auction, such a legendary collection of guitars.
I wish Mark success with this auction.

I have the catalogue and may pop up to see the preview although there is nothing that I think I will be able to afford but always interesting to see the tools of the trade and the associated stories, there are other talks and presentations going on to support the associated guitar trade, a talk?Demo by an up and coming female luthier who's name escapes me as I type this (Rosie??) irrespective all good stuff.

I'm done with viewing rooms full of guitars, they end up all looking the same. I guess I've seen and played so many over the decades. i still like to see beautiful guitars, but just one or a few at a time.
I'm guessing that luthier is Kate Phillips - professionally known as Guitars Kes?

I get why you guessed Kes because of the Steve Phillips connection but it is Daisy Tempest, www.tempestguitars.com/aboutAs I think we have a few Female luthiers in this area (south East) Daisy (East London), Rosie in Surrey and Celine in London, if you know the story of the Kalamazoo girls it aint a bad thing.
