I have known this London music promoter, Jim Driver, for many decades and his observations are worth a listen....
Having been in the music business for around the same amount of decades as Jim, nothing he says or shows surprises me.

Bonne chance.

I used to go in the 90s. Went 93, 94 and 97. Used to absolutely love it - it did seem to change in 97 though, seemed a different crowd and was getting more commercial - though it always had a side to it. but in those days when you said you you were going most people didnt know what it was unless they were big music fans

These things are always money making ventures whatever they like us to think.
Do you go out and play for free? Does the pub give out free drink and food at a charity gig you play? Does the bar staff work for free at the charity gig? It's always the musos and entertainers that get mugged - in my decades of experience only, of course. "It's good publicity for the band," - Bollox!
I could go on and on and on...
Bizniss is Bizniss, people.
Rant over - MM, feel free to delete if deemed to be too political.

I agree wit hi you PD. I also approve of your spelling of bollox.
I don’t think Jim was criticising Glastonbury, just explaining some figures that people are blissfully unaware of. I watched an interview with Emily Eavis this evening where she expressed that Glastonbury is above money, it is about something else….community, love, green issues, freedom…etc. there is no doubt that it does give space to and create awareness of so many issues, but what about the ££££££.
As you say bizness is bizness!
