001 - that would be mine :-)
Very pleased with my MM28 - will be firing it up in anger at a workshop with Adam Franklin this weekend and then taking along to Pocklington. If I get a chance I'll post some photos.
Cheers Mike

The coverplate on mikeshipmans instrument is as good as one with the logo to me, the most important is a decent instrument with the sound characteristics we expect of a resonator of this kind. I can only have respect for the efforts of Michael to develop this instrument. I am curious to hear the impressions of the new owners....it seems they have frozen fingers at the moment.....

I think Mike Shipman's 28 looks mighty fine with a plain cover plate. I'd be more than chuffed with it. My MM Blues has a plain cover plate, and no logo/badge on the headstock either. I'm still over the moon with it three years on. Like you say Michael there are going to be variations in things that are hand built. That's a good thing in my book. It means you've got an instrument with a subtly different character to the next but not compromised on build quality and you just know it's going to sound fantastic.Nothing's been rushed with the production of the 28 and for good reason, and I've been more than happy to wait. I'm someone who knows very little about guitars compared to pretty much all of you folks but I do know where I can put my trust in buying a great quality instrument at an affordable price.Knowing how much planning has gone into producing this guitar and who by is worth it's weight in gold for someone like me. I know I'm on solid ground.

Hello again, Frozen fingers... Not sure what that is referring to, hAve i done something wrong here...?
Anyhow, i have tried to do a short recording, recording is not my forte and I cant make much noise as the kids are in bed and if you hear a rumbling in the background, thats the washing machine... So I dont know how this bit of not specific fiddling in G will come across.
5 mins later , sorry, my basic IT skills are not enough for me to work out how to post the short recording i just did on Garageband, any suggestions?
In the meantime, i took a pic of the headstock that someone asked about, and btw, i really like the plain coverplate.
Mike Another 5 mins on,.......Oh bother, now i cant remember how i managed to do the pic yesterday.... Think i'll just go back to playing the guitar!

Hi Mike,
There is no pressure from anyone on this forum for you or anyone else to post soundclips or photos.
I am just happy that you are pleased with your new guitar. That, as you know, is very important to me.

Thank you for the youtube link Michael. I was aware of it, and also this clip encouraged me to order one a few months ago, my order is number 15 on the list Robin told me. In fact I was planning to order a new woodbody nrp triolian but your MM Blues 28 sounded less boomy (a bit more controllable) to my ears and according with the kind of sound I had in my head. I have also an nrp woodbody tricone and it will be the perfect woody pair together I believe.
Frozen fingers...it's a Flemish one..lol, I just wanted to say that the new owners were so much concentrated with playing their new instrument, they have no time to give first impressions already. And Mike do not feel pressured at all, the first picture you posted shows a really beautiful instrument and I am quite convinced that it sounds as good as it looks.
Michael after your succes with three types of single cones, you should really consider a nice tricone, you can put me already on the order list.

Hi Erwin, Thanks for your kind words and for ordering number 15 I started work on a Tricone earlier this year, but it got held up (a) because of the MM'28 and (b) because I need to give it 100% of my attention for a few months to get it exactly as I want it. Unless I can honestly say that I believe it is the best of its type available anywhere, I would not go into production with any guitar. The Tricone I have been working on will be unique in today's marketplace. Shine On Michael.

Or bring your love of dobros into play, with a MM spider-bridge model, p'raps? Edit: looks like Michael replied while I was writing - so, no MM 'dobro' in the pipeline then (yet?)

Michael, any hints as to what will be unique about this potential tricone? I understand if you want to keep it under wraps until you are sure it is a reality. Also, any other potential variations in this batch of 28's? Hula girls, sunsets? I will be happy to get one regardless of variations, of course! How many 28's were produced in this first batch? I am wondering how far down the list I am.... Can't wait!

Thanks Michael,
I am happy to hear you are considering a tricone for the future. So we are patiently waiting in silence until you think the moment is there to reveal.
Seeing some detail of the MM Blues 28 (for example headstock form and placement of backbracing (through the soundhole visible)), and comparing this to an original 28 Triolian, it is probably as close as you can get to what it was in 1928 (except from the color and trussrod of course). But I like the actual presence a lot. Considering this, I am quite confident a tricone designed to your ideas and experiences will be unique.
Kind Regards Erwin

Thanks to everyone on here for your support and for your enthusiasm about MM guitars. I would be more than happy to talk to any of the regular forum members about my plans for new models, but just as you trust my judgement and are aware of my knowledge of the subject and my commitment to it, so are my competitors. This forum is regularly visited by my competitors and by most of the major makers of resophonic guitars. When we launched the MM BLUES & MM LIGHTNING it made a lot of manufacturers take a look in the mirror and it changed what they were doing. So, as much as I would love to share these ideas of new models with you, and as much as I am flattered by the other companies being interested in my guitars, I just can't talk in public about future models until they are imminent.

OK Michael, I promise not to post anything about the `Dual-cone` Spider/biscuit guitar we started working on. Its going to blow all competition out of the water! I`m very pleased that the square/round neck converter switch has worked so well. Love from all of us at R and D. PT and the boys (and Sue in accounts) Hope I have sent this as a PM. would not like NRP to find out.
