Hello olebanjoguy,
Welcome to my forum and to our friendly community.
The MM Blues '36 guitar is based on mid 1930s National guitars and is constructed properly. It has a proper neck stick which is not a dowel, it is a 1.5" x 1" piece of wood that is stronger than a dowel. National guitars were never built like banjos with dowels. The MMB'36 has a maple neck and a maple biscuit with a box wood bridge saddle. These are the same spoecifications as original 1930s National guitars.
The MMB'36 is a great guitar - it is light to play and very responsive. It also packs quite a punch and is a loud guitar.
I assume that you are looking in the Twelfth Fret store in Toronto. You will be well looked after by the guys there, they run an excellent service and they represent my guitars very well.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask me or the guys at Twelfth Fret, we are always happy to help and advise about guitars.
Thank you for your enquiry.

Ahhh....you a 14 fret Blues too!
The MM Blues '36 guitars at the Twelfth Fret in Toronto are not part of the original fifteen that were made, they are from the second batch, of which there were only a dozen or so. I am just about to commission another small batch of them to be built. I don't think the '36 will ever be produced in anything more than very small batches. I like it that way as it keeps them special.
Thank you for your faith in MM Guitars and for your business.
