Shock news just in from his agent in USA: On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss. Jeff Beck ->RIP ————— Shine On Michael

Very sad news. First saw him with the Tridents at the 100 club. I have seen him quoted as saying playing Bo Diddley in the small clubs as a great time of his life. Great guy, great musician. RIP

Very sad news, Jeff Beck was a master musician. In 2001 I met Jeff at an exhibition opening, he was a really good guy.

Sorry to hear this it seems never ending at the moment with people leaving unexpectedly, The Jeff Beck Les Paul tribute gig was one of the best live shows I have watched on Youtube.

I posted that last night as the news came in. At first we thought it might have been a hoax, but our source was too reliable for that to be the case. There is so much being written about Jeff Beck that I thought I would post these.... Shine On Michael

Plus these:
Sleep soundly Mr. Beck and thank you for all the music, ideas and a major part of the soundtrack of my life since High Wycombe Town Hall 1965/66. PD

I've always liked the voice Jeff Beck had on guitar. The very first track I ever heard of his playin' was "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat"! And I think that what I liked from him is that he was constantly moving forward, though with his personal style. I was supposed to see him in 1991 at the Hammersmith during the "Guitar Shop" tour but...the night before he had fallen on stage and so he cancelled the gig in London! I always thought that a good partnership for him would have been Beck (Hansen), with his sometimes quirky songwriting. Imagine those two together...They might have been sponsored by Beck beer! Frank

Unbelievable- what was amazing that after my sister sent me a copy of TRUTH - so long ago - maybe first time I was blown away by a guitarist like that / the later work was insanely great - not to mention the Middle Ages of blow by blow etc - body of work unmatched - can’t believe he’s gone .
