This 10 string from South America was bought at a roadside stall some years ago but has split around the entire body. The owner doesn’t want the proper repair ( glue sides and put a row of about 50 cleats around the inside ) , but would like it to work but because of the small sound hole it is a very expensive repair. So I have a cunning plan, it’s going to look odd, but the work I intend to do will mean that if they win the lottery the instrument could be cleated properly, re-stained and no one will be any the wiser. Gluing and clamping would be the first step of any repair. , it’s the next step ,re-enforcing the glued crack that could take a long time Pete
