Just found a recent video of someone doing a crystal paint finish,
With controlled humidity you my be able to control the crystal size and formation for a more ‘Duco’ effect??

He's a larf a minit ain't he! Not a bad effect as Pete says, and you may be able to modify it as Pete suggested. Some of you have seen and commented positively on my attempts at a 'duco' effect. I think I'll have another go at making the crystal effect more obvious, I'll let you know how I get on. 🙂👍. Best wishes to you all, John

Humidity, temperature and hence drying speed is critical.
Great video!

Humidity, temperature and hence drying speed is critical. Great video! If it works like most crystal growth, then higher humidity will slow growth,so bigger ‘crystals ‘ . I’m not sure about the longevity of the finish, some of the urea solution will still be between the top coat and the base coat. Though looks like they are popular on motorcycles so must be fairly hard at least in the short term? Pete

I've seen a whole car painted with this product, it's spectacular, but relatively less hypnotic than real Duco. Pattern are somewhat simpler and less tri-dimensional. On another sight, it seems that you need a lot of more layers of painting than the very thin Nitro-cellulosic Duco. A resonator is not a wooden intrument, so we may hope the sound wasn't aletered by this necesseraly thicker painting and varnish; but an alternative copy should look great with this finish. (My Dacia too).
