Can’t recall any posts about this....
Was promoted by a mention on the Radio 2 Blues Show last Monday.
A collection of artefacts from British Blues, especially things connect with Chis Barber ( his trombone is there)
Haven’t got there yet so don’t know how big it is, it’s been on tour so some UK forum members may have seen it already . Pete
At the Barbican London till September 19th

Hi Pete,
This exhibition has been on since May I think.
There are exhibits from various artists in the history of British Blues and apparently even includes some exhibits of mine. I heard this from someone that wrote to me a while ago. I would love to see an exhibition / museum dedicated to this subject that does it properly, but seeing their inclusion of Rag'N'Bone Man, raises questions in my mind. I have nothing against Rory Graham (Rag'N'Bone Man), he's a fine artist, but to include him in an exhibition of blues artists is pushing it a little, and I am very broad minded about my taste in blues. Soul, Hip-Hop, Rock, Pop, but Blues....I don't think so. I am not trying to offend anybody that put this exhibition together, but there is such a rich and varied history in almost 70 years of British Blues that is ignored or overlooked.

Yes, it’s been on since May, and some of the links are a little questionable. I guess the inclusion of stuff from current artists with a ( tenuous) connection to the blue was to get non-blues fans ( or rather those who haven’t come across the blues yet) in the door.
The BBCs Blues Show ( radio2 Mondays 9.00pm) which is where I found out about the exhibition could also be criticised in the same way. Many of the track are ‘blues influenced’ or from an artist who says they are. This often means you get to hear very interesting and entertaining things you ( or at any rate someone like me) would not have heard.
Cerys Matthews also has a hand in a multi-genre music show on radio 4 call Add to Playlist. Often very interesting, with links between all sorts of music. ( last week saw a connection made between Dolly Parton’s 9 till 5 and Muddy Waters.............. but as usual I am rambling.
