I have played in Montreux a few times. My advice would be to look online for live music / blues / What’s on / in Montreux. There has to be a scene, there always is and in that part of the world they love jazz and blues.

If you fancy a 300Km drive in this heat you could always try the Vienne Festival. Bonne vacance, Pete. Vienne is a nice place to go. Tonight's the last night of the festival, I think the blues night was last week sometime. Enjoy your holiday !

Life's sometimes funny...I just came back home, after few days on the road, and find this thread about the Vienne Jazz Festival.
Last saturday I had to play on a boat on the river Rhône, a very special gig that I did once or two times a year; in fact it's just a short cruise for tourists up and down around Vienne. Few miles near Vienne they also have a great Blues festival (Salaise sur Sanne), that's where I've met some nice peoples who ask me to play aboard.
I am playing various songs and telling stories about the Mississippi, and the riverboats, history, nature... Beautifull landscapes, and wine; its a beautiful country.
And a very nice chap gave me two tickets to go at Vienne that night, and can you believe it; it's just yhe special New-Orleans night ! I was almost dead after tree gigs without much sleeping between, and to much miles on the wheel...but I could never dream to see Trombone shorty, and the Dirthy Dozen brass band live !
Great to disccover how funky dancing can cure back pain.

Had a walk around yesterday, quite a few free concerts ( most seem to involve a DJ) and lots of ‘busking’ places. Eventually I even found one playing ‘jazz’ standards but the closest to blues will probably be Jeff and Van tonight , which is sold out . Pete
Next year Vienne?
