Picked up this Dobro at a local auction. Was wondering how to clean resonator.

You can clean the coverplate with any metal polish. It's probably mild steel with chrome plating which has gone a bit but don't worry, these things look better with age.
If you take the coverplate off, show us a pic of what's underneath. The cone itself underneath may just need a careful dusting, it's very thin so be careful. It might also be fixed in with glue.
How does it sound ?

Cleaning the Cover Plate ( is that the part you mean? Usually ‘resonator’ means the whole guitar or the thin aluminium cone which the cover plate protects) is best done with a metal polish used for brass instruments ( trumpet trombone etc) some polish can be abrasive and the nickel plating on your cover plate is probably already worn. Standard ‘guitar polish should be ok for the rest of the guitar.
I think you may be new to resonators, if so there are a few things you should think about. The cone under the cover plate is probably over 80 years old, and is not very strong when removed. It could be glued in ! If you are not familiar with resonator guitars find someone who has worked on them before ( not many guitar repairers have , in 40 years of repairing guitars I have only worked on 4 or 5 vintage resonators).
If you are determined to do any work yourself ask advice here, someone will talk you through it and hopefully not too much damage will be done. Pete
Wrote this a while ago and didn’t see davey’s post before mine went in
