Hey all
Hope it's ok to post this here but I've been informed that Steve James has had his National mandolin stolen and I've been asked to share the news on here in case any of you around the globe who visit this wonderful forum might have heard anything wiffy that could be related and helpful in getting it back.
If you could pass the word on that'd be great too.
Here's a bit info that I was sent:
National RM-1 mandolin Maple, walnut. pearloid Serial # 007 (back of headstock) Stolen in Seattle 04/22. Report filed
steve@stevejames.com
Cheers
Lew

Oh no, not another instrument theft! Darn these people. I have known Steve for many years and I know Steve's mandolin, he's had it for quite some time. I do hope it finds its way home. Shine On Michael

That is awful, there really is some pond life around. I am proud to say Steve has been a good friend for a lot of years now, we share a love of blues mandolin, and I also have a National Mandolin same as his, they are unique instruments and easily identifiable. Let's hope he gets it back.

Hi there !
When I was a Uni student in Dundee, I had my flat broken into twice - about a week apart. First time they came, the neighbours heard the door being kicked in and the would-be burgulars didn't hang around long enough to steal anything. They did rifle through my CD collection - and didn't take anything. Obviously, they have no taste in blues music !!
The following week, someone broke in and stole my Fender (Japan) Telecaster Foto-Flame sunburst guitar, and silver-panel Fender Vibrochamp amp. I had a gig the next night - so had to play mostly just piano !!
It was coming up to exam time, so I'd been studying on the floor of my room, with piles of notes all around me on the floor. Both times I got to my flat, the same Policeman was there. First time, he thought the burgulars had created all the mess, with papers all over my floor. (I was too embarassed to tell him it was like that already !) Second time, the flat was still in the same state (as I'd been doing more studying on the floor), and the Policeman just gave me that look, as if to say "give the place a tidy up, will you ??!!!). So embarrassing !!
Never got them back. Boo hoo !

Oh no, I hope Steve will get his mandolin back, sooner or later! I had the pleasure in the early 90s to be burglarized 7 times in 6 months while living in the pretty neighbourhood of Hackney (!). Once they stole some CDs, among them some Jeff Beck, Danny Gatton and a rare live Hubert Sumlin. The thief sure had taste! And another time they grabbed the only valuable thing in the flat, a small yet extremely heavy Mesa Boogie amp. But hey left it in the middle of a garden because it was too heavy... Frank

Frank Absolutely, let's hope Steve gets his mandolin back soon. The thief was wise to leave your amp in the garden. I owned a beautiful mark 1 Mesa Boogie. It was a superb amp, but eventually it had to go because it was like lifting a chunk of concrete! All thieves disgust me, but thieves that steal people's musical instruments, especially from working musicians, are the lowest of the low. Shine On Michael
