I asked this question on a Facebook page and as expected got a boatload of answers from experts that didn’t answer the question so I’m asking this bunch of reasonable and sagacious chaps instead.
I bought a second hand Gretsch Jim Dandy a few years back and I bloody love it but the tuners are dreadful, some are slacker than my jaw after Asprilla’s hat trick vs Barcelona and some are tighter than a lobster’s arsehole. I would like to replace them but I have no confidence or skills or even tools to drill bigger holes etc. so I’m hoping for some wise words about how to find out how to get some replacements the same size I can just drop in. I don’t know the technical term for this but they are all connected on a piece of metal rather than individually screwed in. Don’t mind switching for individual ones. For a guitar that cost £70 it’s a bloody pearler otherwise.

Have a look at Stew Mac online for replacement tuners, yours are three on a plate/strip by the sounds of it. If you google Jim Dandy Guitar tuners there is discussion online and options for replacements.
Hope this nudges you in the right direction.
Regards
Lee

Thanks man. Had a look. Cost nigh on the amount the guitar did. But I do like the guitar so will think about saving some dosh towards them.
