Found objects are great Pete. I had a work colleague who made little 3D cartoon like models, each with a specific theme. Think of The TellyGoons puppets and you have the gist. One that stuck in my mind was a motor cyclist, and he used a ping pong ball to make the crash helmet, and "Shippams" ™ paste jar lid peel-aways for the mud guards. The hinge, whilst not exactly a new idea even by Pete's record is perfectly executed here. If anyone can improve the rate of change of a wheel's circumference, my money's on Pete!

Though nothing to do with this thread, I have been working on a new Bigsby style cast aluminium trem . for my MM Lighting ( well it does say MM Lightning on the headstock) made from a ‘found’ object. Can’t get it to fit at the moment Might abandon the trem idea which would make things easier. Pete

Back to Mark2, My last CBG had a strengthening ‘stick’ running the full length of the body, this box is made of very thick ( for a CBG) ply so I have an unusual ‘shoe’ to hold the neck This will be fixed with screws that go through the internal frame and back. What could possibly go wrong? Pete

Interesting thread. I made Cigar box type guitars for 6 years. I don’t any more but I did keep three I was partial to. All three have 2 piece necks, home made boxes and electrified. The top one is purely electric by design but the other two can be acoustic although not very loud. The middle one is an inverted dog/cat bowl and the bottom one fretless. I put a rather crude diagram of how the necks were made if it’s any help. Thought you might like to see them. Attachments:

Well , it has strings and make the sound I thought it would but ( there is always a but) I have put the pickup just where I want to pick, so it will have to go down a The pickup was very close to the strings and will still have plenty of gain when I have dropped it a few mms Will do a (hopefully short for your sake) video/sound clip at some point. Pete Fairly happy with the Cigar tube handrest, though have yet to find a suitable ‘cigar themed ‘ tailpiece .

This wonderful reso cbg now is residing (not quietly) by the sea. Beautifully built and sounds great. Pete has asked me to post a video - Hah! When I've practised and plucked up the courage to do so it will be done. Thank you, yet again, Pete and Mrs. Pete for your kind hospitality at crazy o'clock on a Sunday morning.
