I would love a slide rig but at my age I can't justify getting one as I'm not likely to go out gigging and recording electric again.
However, I have kept hold of my many basses, guitars, some amps and effects wise, an original old Dearmond Tremtrol and the marvellous Tech21 VT BassDI - just in case.

Yup, I'm a lucky guy. I have the model 601; all original with the ice cube knobs, original box and leaflet although I've had to refill it with Windex. Bought 2nd hand from Selmers in Charing Cross road in the late 1960s for less than a quid cos nobody wanted them then.

I'm a bit of a compressor junkie really. I've had two Dyna Comps (the first one went in that clear out), the SlideRig and a home made one called the Paranormal which was a (then) Guitar and Bass Magazine construction kit via Dan at Dinosaural. I was disappointed in them in that they wouldn't provide a schematic when it would be a doddle to reverse engineer. It was intended to blend wet and dry rather in the manner that folks would bridge the inputs on an AC30 with an out of phase compressor (like the DynaComp in fact). It's actually a fine compressor which achieves its aims, but the SlideRig is the shiznitz.
I have three vibe pedals too. I love them!
Amongst my current hoard of twenty-odd stomp boxes, I have an original Dallas Rangemaster treble booster. That one escaped the 1980s cull! For some lunatic reason they were exchanging hands for £2,500 around ten years ago. For a tin box vontaining a tag strip with about seven discrete components, that's little short of obscene. Demented too.
Jono, I would give consideration to acquiring a SlideRig, but if your "CooderCaster" sounds anything like Ryland's, it may be unnecessary. You can do a lot with your guitar, a suitable amp and judicious use of reverb as Ben demonstrates. On the other hand if you eschew it, you'll never know. Take time out when you're passing and come round for a blast on it, you have my number. Costs nada.

can't give any meaningful insight about comparing cali 76 to slideRIG dual units. have never had an opportunity to play the 76. more or less the same guit, amp and day comparisons required to form opinions.
have read the higher voltage 76 options are liked by many, but never heard Utube slideRIG vs 76 videos.
mention videos as being only relative comparisons. one needs to physically be within the blast zone of a cranked amp to appreciate comp verses non-comp.
origin FX units of all flavors are scarce at best here in tejas. did manage to find a dealer in Austin in my first slideRIG quest, but shy away from 12 hour round trip shopping adventures. in what seems a logistically counterintuitive move, ended up scratching that itch with a long distance UK purchase for the 2nd.
[still have both for guit>amps signal Stevie and the stereo dbx 166xl for recording.]
completely agree with Michael's must-keep pedal rating. bought my first one on the basis of his glowing review here and searching for demo videos.
as a guit player acceptance indicator - videos were not easy to find back then but quite abundant now. almost beyond understanding as I can't even give a good explanation of how they so pleasantly alter signal.
feel that thinking of these for exclusively slide use is only the part of the iceberg visible. not a one trick pony. improves cleans AND dirt sonic qualities. in that same order, think Roger McGuinn and David Gilmour. but beyond player appreciation, con$ider the following:
also completely agree with Michael about fuzz face NOISE itself made way back in the day*. for my personal use only, wouldn't cross the street to be given a replacement next week.
what do prices for original fuzz faces fetch now?
wrote an email to origin FX asking for total production numbers of slideRIG and was told about 400. find past slideRIG thread here for actual #'s.
