Just been looking into the slide rig pedal as a companion fro the Coodercaster.. i see that that they do the duel compression pedal ( for the lowell George thing) and the Cali 76 single circuit at less then half price of the other . I f i am not bothered about the lowell George thing - is the single circuit worth getting?

Jono, I would say that anything made by Origin Effects is worth getting. I have one of the first SlideRig units, it was handmade by Simon Keats and is a superb piece of kit. I think mine is #006 or thereabouts.

Hi Jono. I've got the the dual compression rig, I like the way it makes my limited capabilities sound. If you do get the single stage you'll always be wondering 'should I have gone the whole hog!' All I can say is it does work and is a very solid piece of kit. πππΈ
Best wishes to you all, John

I have one of the original SlideRigs too Jono. It put a smile on my boat that split from ear to ear.
Mitchfit has two of them. 'Nuff said.
I love Lowell. He's my Elvis!

I had one Jono, but sold it about 6 months later. Sounded great but I couldn't fathom how to justify owning it.

Here's a photo of my handbuilt SlideRig. At 8" x 6" (20cm x 15cm) it is a large unit to travel with. Luckily I have a Volvo for such things. I have flown with it a few times, but it has to go as oversize luggage. So the new mass produced regular effects pedal sized version is definitely more practical. I agree with whoever said...if you're getting one, get the full dual-chained version. Shine On Michael

That's the one I had - the early bigger hand built effort.

Haha But as I don't really care for electric slide nor do I see myself needing such a tool for studio or live work, if I ever get to do either again that is(!) then well I just felt it was a bit overkill and wasteful to keep it. Lovely pedal though don't get me wrong. Stevie - no it went to a nice chap in Bedfordshire I think.

That told me! Shine On Michael Tongue firmly in cheek π€£ Also worth noting that your advice was based on my situation and not on the pedal itself, which is obviously killer! I had a fairly longwinded phase of PAS and it's a slippery slope... Best, Lew

I had a fairly longwinded phase of PAS and it's a slippery slope... Best, Lew Likewise! The SlideRig is the only guitar effect that I possess. I have never been a user of such things, apart from the occasional piece that might require a wahwah or something. I like the pure tone of my guitar plugged into an amp. Nothing comes close to that for my own playing. I have used the SlideRig on quite a few gigs and it is really useful in certain situations, especially when I have flown to a gig and using supplied backline. When I was a teenager the "Fuzz Face" fuzz box was the best thing I had ever heard and I made a lot of noise with one! Shine On Michael

That's true about the slippery slope. Back in the 1980s, I became so disenchanted with being propped up by effects that I sold the lot to a good friend, deciding to rely upon just the guitar and amp instead. I even launched all my plectrums (plectra?) which wasn't too much of a wrench because I'd had classical training. Gradually other interests occupied me like radio. About 15 years ago, I embarked upon a guitar fetish again and there it was- that slippery slope again, except this time it was steeper and I had a map and spare cash ...
I kept just one plectrum back then- it had "Manny's" embossed upon one side and "Wings" upon the other. It had been "rescued" from the glove compartment of an Aston Martin whilst it was being serviced at the long-gone Bridge Garage in Chertsey, Surrey.
Hi Denny!
