Damn, it's come up for sale at just the wrong time - I had to buy a new tyre for my car on Monday - no money left.

That is a beautiful instrument and a piece of history. I hope it goes to a safe home.
I wish them luck with the sale.

I am sure Jim Dunlop do a signature models, though at inflated prices. I am still without a Coodercaster ( sold the last one I made as I didn’t like the ‘handrest’ plate of the Supro style pickup. ) This one would suit me much better, just need the 60s Strat to mess with. No, my attempt at humour on a cold, snowy, dark Friday morning, that's all.
The tyre is a bog standard Michelin which cost me about £100.
However, as Ry Cooder is one of my all time favourite musicians I would love to own that guitar even if my playing would not give it the respect which Mr. Ryland and that guitar deserves.
I too pray that it goes to someone who will cherish it and play it sympathetically.

Thanks for the info, I have seen this guitar in action I think Ry had it with him when he was in London a couple of years ago at Cadogan Hall, Michael was there as well so he might remember seeing it. I like the Calton case, Ry has good taste in cases as well as guitars. If I come up on the lottery tonight I might be in with a chance but to be honest I could never do the guitar justice as you also need a Dumble to play it through, Regards Lee

More than the sum of its parts. I really like that Retrofret haven’t opened it up or changed the strings. Well done guys
PD, what a blisteringly good video that it. !

Interesting to note that even with an almost standard Strat ( jus a P90 in the bridge) Ry still sounds like Ry. Pete Also , I think the original guitar was a ‘bitza’ ( bits of this , bits of that) The neck is probably an old Jazzmaster rebranded. Fender were messing with the look of that model at the time and it would explain the binding and pearl dots?
Someone must have mentioned this before?
Also, the head colour matching the body was also a feature of some Jazzmasters , not something you got on many Strats at the time.

The link on Reverb now says “this item is no longer available”. However, his 1964 Fender Vibroverb amp is still available for $10,000 USD. (Shipping is extra.)

Wow, I thought for a second it was going to be his sunburst. I'd probably sell the house for that haha
