Hello folks
Sadly, due to health reasons, I have pretty much decided to part with my MM Lightning. It’s become simply too heavy for me to manage. So I’m considering a lighterweight option, particularly the Weissenborn-style of construction. I tried something similar a few months back - before the first UK lockdown - and it felt pretty comfortable.
I’ve been looking - online only! - at the variety of models made by Anderwood Guitars, in Dorset, UK, and wondered if anyone on here has any experience of the brand, and its guitars.
Look forward to your feedback.
Thanks in advance Simon

Hi Simon, I’ve had one, and can definitely say they are well built, great sounding Weissenborn style instruments. I bought mine used but in perfect condition. If l were you l’d look for used and get a real bargain. Sadly it’s gone now. The piezo wasn’t up to much but did work. I bought an active sound hole pickup which sounded immense. I might have a video clip to show you. I didn’t pursue the style ( too many other slidey things going on).
Regards Chris

The hip flask doesn’t do it justice however. Dunlop - SP2 or Tribotone bullets sound top notch.

Chris ‘I love slide me’ Cheers for the video clip - I enjoyed the thought of having a quick taste of whiskey between numbers! Although that would probably be a bad idea... Many thanks for the info. Nice looking guitar, by the way. All the best, Simon

Shame... Appreciate your comments. I’ll start keeping an eye on the secondhand market. Cheers, Simon

Yep ~ I heard through the grapevine that Anderwood Guitars had called it a day during the first lockdown earlier this year - a shame because their instruments did have pretty good reviews from owners.
Slide On!
The Flaschenmeister.

Slide On! The Flaschenmeister. That all sounds pretty definite then. What a pity. I really feel for the number of small businesses that have been affected. Thanks for your input. Cheers, Simon

The early Anderwood guitars were made in China and prepped in the UK. Later on they worked with Thomas Buchanan to create the Anderwood Authentic range of Weissenborns. They amicably parted company but Thomas still builds them in Batley, West Yorkshire. weissenbornguitar.uk/ (no affiliation)
