I've been using Herco thumbpicks for 30 years and for the past 15 years (if you have got some nails) Alaska picks. Since they don't cost a leg you can always experiment and try different picks... Frank

Frank Afraid that's the fact of the matter norberg.Tedious though it is the only way to find picks that suit is to experiment.I've got a tin somewhere that's full of rejects. One thing I will say is metal fingerpicks (not on thumb) are much more adaptable. All you need is a pair of pointed nose pliers.

Those Fred Kelly thumbpicks are super comfortable! I like to reshape the blade with a nail file to make it shorter. For some reason, I tend to hit the coverplate with it if I don't shorten them.

I have two sets of three of these Fred Kelly picks that do not suit me, completely unused , the white large ones. I like large golden gate thumb picks, that sadly only pop up sometimes unless i splash out nearly £30 from the USA for a dozen. Anybody interested £2.50 including post payable to paypal PM me I'll check back in a couple days

I’ve being using Fred Kelley speed picks for some years combined with Dunlop .018 metal finger picks n my 6 strings. For the 12, I find a Dunlop plastic thumb pick a little better.

I received this through the post this morning. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=124105130431&_trksid=m5467.l1311It doesn't feel very substantial so it could be a fleeting romance, but it does "work" for me (I have tried with thumb picks.) What I mean there is that it's quite easy to adapt to it. You have to measure around your thumb at the cuticle end of the nail using some thread because they are a bespoke product. I can't tell what it's made from- although it "looks" like bone, it could very well be some plastic. I like to think it's from a recycled 'roo burger! e&oe ...
