Here is a fine example of Taiwanese Luthiery which you can own for £60. Everything works, quite a nice neck, perfectly straight and good frets. Donking great pickup, needs tightening up but I'm not venturing inside. Socket and knobs work fine, tuners fine. Sounds great in a R L Burnside / Seasick Steve kind of way. Frankly, it's a lot of fun for the money and the £60 represents the entire day it took me to clean it. I literally found it in my attic. Happy to post but would probably have to take the neck off as there is no case. Cheers, Davey

That's lovely, reminds me of being thirteen years old and leaping around my bedroom. I had a very similar Japanese Zenta guitar. Are you sure it's from Taiwan?

Congratulations PD. There's something about the not quite right shape of that guitar that makes it attractive. The Austin Allegro of the guitar world.

I must admit to have been hankering for one of these for a while - looking forward to its arrival and plugging in.

Hi Michael and Co.
It has a "made in Taiwan" sticker on the back which looks correct. I think it's the best sounding electric Guitar I've ever had but I don't like to hear my mistakes that loud.

Arrived, assembled, strung up, tuned to E Vastopol, Mateus Rose bottlenck, plugged into a Micro Cube with a little reverb. PHENOMENAL GUITAR! Why do people pay a small fortune on ladida electric guitars if they want playability and tone? Answers on a postcard, please... Thanks, Davey.

Thanks, Davey. :) Same reason they pay a fortune for ladida cars when they could have a Lada (or an Allegro) Enjoy!

This is the sort of guitar that I used to gaze at in abject wonderment in F.W.Woolworth's store in Hounslow high street as a five year old. They were mostly red, and it was approximately the centre counter at the front of the shop. If you're "of an age", you'll recall that the Wooly's shop windows were curved glass beckoning you towards the doors, which some nameless moronic baby boomer later decided to "modernise".
Regarding ostentatious acquistions generally, mostly I figure that they have found themselves in possesion of "disposable" cash and have cottoned on to the fact that A/ they can't take it with them when they "go", so better to turn it into fun while you're still drawing breath, and B/ to fend off the circling vultures (which extends beyond "The Family" to include that most invidious of plug-holes- Death Duties.)
Play squintilishous guit-fiddles now, or leave it to someone else to exclaim "Rock 'n' Roll"- truly there IS a dog" (anag) and go on to whiffle it away on fast cars and loose womens. You decide gentle reader, but I know where my money's went.

I'm glad it's still out there and giving some fun. I wish I'd taken a photo of it when I found it in my attic. It was covered in all sorts of attic-y stuff and I got a lot of fun from bringing it back to life. I thought it was at least as well made as the Fenders I've had in pieces.
The only posh Guitars to be seen when I grew up were Hofners and Eko's. I bought an Eko on HP and was soon playing it with a piece of steel pipe on my finger.
