Wonderful performance - thanks Harriet.
Was this recorded in London at The Mayfair Hotel in 1969?
If so, whose guitar was he playing?

Hi PD - It's a surprise, I think it's the only clip of him on a resonator- came up on youtube channel I subscribe to. I
It's not included on the Live at the Mayfair that I have. That's a different version. I don't know whose resonator he was playing.

I think that concert was released as “Standing at the burying ground” which featured Jo Ann Kelly. Did she use a resonator?

According to the sleeve notes Ian A Anderson’s blues trio was the support act for Fred’s 1969 tour. I’m pretty sure he had a resonator

I will ask Ian to drop by and let us know, if he does, whose guitar that was. But before I do that, what makes you think it was recorded at the Mayfair Hotel? I have known that recording for 40 years on various albums, but never heard this before now.

Ian Anderson had a National Don back then - as used on the 'Inverted World' album with Mike Cooper.

Listening again this morning it seems to be a very intimate recording in a smallish room, you can hear his foot stomp on a "hollow floor" and you can hear a few voices at about the 18 second mark, but what do I know?
Is it in someones front room? Can I hear a child in there, too?
Whatever / Wherever, this is one of them tracks which is right up there with the best of the best, IMHO of course.

It's not a studio recording. It could be in England because at the time that's where there was more interest in National guitars. It doesn't sound like Ian's Don to me, but what do I know Maybe someone should write the person that posted it on YouTube and ask where they got it from. Shine On Michael

Just joined the Google and YouTube fraternity to ask the question(s) of the poster.
Now sitting here with fingers crossed waiting for a reply that will hopefully cast some light on the "mystery".
Here's hopin'...

That's a great find.
A few years ago I was trying to find clips, photos or videos of Fred playing a resonator with no success.

I wonder is there was anyone with a camera about when that was recorded, there could be a forgotten photo of Fred with that resonator out there somewhere.
