HI Folks, I saw this on Reverb and it caught my eye as my 1931 Triolian also has a shiny coverplate. It also has an unusual stencil on the back. Is it original ?

Hi Davey, have to say, to my highly untrained eye (other than being there) I'd bet money on a trippy sixties artist!
Best wishes to you all, John

It's just the fact that it's a stencil made me wonder. You'd normally only use a stencil if you wanted to do a batch of them.

Reading the blurb in the ad. I think it says "the design on the back was made at a later time".
I wonder if the body had a full respray sometime a long time ago and the "decal" was done then?
I'm probably wrong, though.

I should have read the advert ! I didn't notice the translation further down. I quite like the design anyway !

100% not anything to do with the National factory at any time in its history.

Prior to enlarging the photo to have a good look,I thought somebody had vomited down the back of it.

Hi everybody, that National used to belong to a guy I know who organised a concert for me in Italy. It has been advertised for a quite a long time and nowadays a shop in Perugia is asking 3499 Euros for it. Any help you need (translating, questions, contacting the old seller) just let me know and I will be glad to help. Frank

Cheers Frank, good to hear from you. It just caught my eye as it's similar to the last one I bought (which cost me around 1500 Euros) Hope things are getting easier for you in Italy. I was with Steve Evans of Beltona recently and he said he had done a neck reset on my guitar, so it really was a bargain. Cheers, David

David, 1500 Euros looks like a real bargain! Everytime I see a photo of a vintage National...I would like to strum it even for a few seconds to hear how it sounds! Unfortunately, where I'm from the few of them around have reached steep prices!
(I'm fine and healthy, thank you. I just hope I will be able to support myself again in not too long a time. In the meanwhile, after months of of playing at home, my calluses are VERY thick! ) Frank
