love that they are at least trying to fill a void. even so, a heads-up to potential buyers.
had a chance to buy a mid-60's XII* in OEM HSC waa-a-y back in the day for a very good price, esp weighing in the Jimmy Page connection. was in good shape overall, but had a 1.625" nut. HAD TO PASS, in spite of price. came away wondering how JPP managed to play one of these, just too close for a twelve string in my hands.
ended up getting a squire-venus-vista (now that's a mouthful) XII very many years later on solely because it has a 1.75" nut.
alluding to a Don Quixote endorsement, Fender's new "alternate reality" XII has gone with a middle of the road approach @ 1.685" nut.
a popular saying here in the US is "pay before you play".
i would advise the exact opposite.
$0.02, mitchfit
* sort of a 12 string mustang
