I've looked high & low for a copy of the Rhythm Oil disc with no luck. If anyone runs across a copy for sale, or if there's any prospect of it getting re-re-issued, would you message me or post here? Thanks.

Hi ch,
Thanks for hunting for that album. It appears on two labels ( Minidoka Records and Koch UK ) and the actual title of the album is "Rhythm Oil 'The Sessions' ". Most people know it as Rhythm Oil.
You may find it by contacting Koch UK and asking if they have any stock left. I no longer have anything to do with Koch, so you would have to do it yourself.
You might also check with Waterloo Records in Austin. I am sure they used to carry it and may have a copy hanging around. Rhythm Oil was originally released in 1993 by Minidoka and re-released by Koch UK in 1998. I never had anything to do with the Koch release. So it kind of dissappeared around 1998 and has not been seen since.
I have seen the occasional copy on the Internet, but I haven't looked for a long time. If nobody responds to your request, let me know and I will send you a CDR of the album.
Two tracks from Rhythm Oil; Cannon Ball Blues and Worried Life are on my album King Guitar.
It is a great shame that it is unavailable - a Terry Clarke, Michael Messer, Jesse Taylor album with CD liner notes written for us by Johnny Cash - and it doesn't exist anymore!
Shine On Michael

Hi Michael Have managed to find all your cds and Guitar Maestros dvd but for Rhythm Oil, by checking all the usual suspects. Have been a slide guitar fanatic since Ry Cooder hid his identity on The Ceyleib People lp, so you know i will not rest ... any leads or help ? Thanks

Hi Gainrider474, I have just done a search too. It was originally released in 1993 on a small indie label called Minidoka Records, and in 1998 it was re-released by Koch UK. It really does look like it has disappeared. How many record companies do you know that would not be interested in the fact that Johnny Cash was involved with this project and wrote the sleeve notes for us. Well both record labels didn't think it meant very much or that it would be helpful in the marketing. The only other people JC did this for are Bob Dylan and Kris Kristofferson. Gainrider474, the only thing I can do to help make your collection complete is to burn you a copy and post it to you. Please PM me with your real name and address. “Contender for top album of the year. Robert Johnson meets Van Morrison at Johnny Cash’s favourite bar. Rhythm Oil is mighty dirty music with steel guitar and accordion... The dirtiest, loudest country blues album of all time!” Nick Dalton - Sunday Express - 1993 "Rhythm Oil .....Rocking country in various styles from driving country blues to Tex Mex to modern kick ass rockabilly. This fine album, originally released by a small independent label in 1993 is the best album Joe Ely never released!" Martin Whittle - Free Country - 1998 Shine On, Michael.
