not a bass player, so i admit to not paying enough attention to the great players out there who got to the next levels of what is possible with that instrument.

Mitchfit, this morning you've made an old bass player very happy indeed.
I was fortunate to see JPJ / LZ do this live in 1970 - incredible song and bass line.
He's up there with Jamerson as far as I'm concerned and this track proves it!

JPJ was the cleverest part of that mob. I remember watching him on the last night of the first weekend at Earls Court in 1975 as he played mandolin AND bass on foot pedals simultaneously. I think "Since I've been Loving You" was played on the keys and bass pedals simultaneously too.
The guy's an end of a leg.
It's said old rockers never die, well here's your proof. At least Dave Grohl realised it when he matched up JPJ with Josh Homme at a party!
