Hello, Mark--I've just acquired this German silver 3 piece body and am planning to restore it. The easiest thing would to have one of the later MOTS "O" necks from NRP attached, but then it would look like one of the later Style "N" guitars. I'm in the process of trying to get Dave Flood to make a copy of the tricone type neck which I assume would have been originally used on this guitar. I've been trying to find photos of a similar guitar--so far the pic of S68 on the Notecannons site is the only one I've found. Anything else out there?

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see the thread earlier. Here are some pictures of S142 and S74 (Top three pics are S142. Bottom one is S74). They are the only ones that I have showing the necks and heels. Hope they might be of sufficient value to you Best Mark

Thank you, Mark. These should help when I see Dave next week--although he really liked it when we talked yesterday and I'd asked him if he could duplicate the Valco heelless "Stylist" neck with the metal core--so I would have an acoustic with the same feel as my Supro Martinique! Luckily for me, the eBay seller listed the body as a Dobro, so there weren't very many bidders, much to my delight.

Looks an interesting find, the guitars are still out there although less and less are being sourced without the seller having full use of the internet to see what they have at there disposal, well this one slipped through the net and into your clutches.
NRP should be able to replicate a German silver cover plate and patina it down to age appropriate.
Dave Flood should be able to reproduce a neck if you agree on spec.
Interesting to see how it develops
Regards
Lee

Yes, Lee. I just got a call from Dave an hour ago. He still seems to be intrigued with helping me restore this thing. He evidently wants me to find original parts as much as possible, and I'll do what I can. Except for a small separation on the back and associated crease/dent next to it, the body is remarkable condition--the nickel plating is in very good condition with no haze. And I have to think perhaps it was meant to have fallen into "my clutches"--so John's apprentice could work on it.

If it is anything like my tricone German silver is unplated, just polished and buffed so getting seams re-soldered becomes easier as there is no plating to worry about, I am sure Dave will know what to do.

Thanks! Uh, where? NRP made the GS coverplate and it's at their plater's, and Dave found some mahogany he's had for 50 some years. So hopefully this might come together before its 100th anniversary...or even its 90th!

Hey just send me your regular e mail and I can send a bunch of neck photos various angles - I dunno why I could post photos of my triolian and the rest and now it says the photos are too large - MB’s and all that stuff I know zip about . I can use my I phone and that’s the extent of my expertise or lack of .
