There are many photos of Muddy playing the Guild NS S200 around that time. I think the Electric Mud and After The Rain sessions feature that guitar Shine On Michael And a late 60s Jaguar

odd, never had any problems loading from the TUBE to MM's dot com before. or any others for that matter.
at first, i thought they might have been "loaners" from a local authorized guild dealer store with them touring OCONUS.
but then i saw the gibson....
thanx MM, wasn't aware he had a guild phase before now.
can anyone ID the amps? solid state rickenbacker?

pete1951,
kinda surprised to see him with a jaguar. through the fogs of a half century, seem to recall the one i had was handicapped by some of the lowest output PUPs i ever played into the 18 watt vox that came with the deal.
perhaps it had seen some sort of guit abuse unknown to me before the pair were scored, but i can't think of any possibility other than a deranged individual terrorizing the area with a tape head de-gausser...
5 HOURS LATER--EDIT--JUST NOTICED THAT pete1951 had re-posted a prior MM response. thanks to both!

I remember reading when Guild recently relaunched the Thunderbird of it,s famous association with Muddy, interestingly it had a built in stand in the back and whatever Muddy played it sounded like Muddy, did he have a preference for Amps or just turn up and play the house kit???

I think this is pretty much correct - In later years Muddy used two Fender amps on stage wired together, usually with all the settings at around 8 to 9. Mostly he asked for Deluxe, Pro-Reverb and Twin-reverb amps. In the early years various amps were used. The white Telecaster that became the maroon Telecaster was his signature sound, which apart from a short time with Guild and early recordings with various guitars, was his guitar.

Not only did Muddy and the band play Guild instruments but also on film you can see that they had Guild labelled amps.

There is a note in Muddys biography ( Can’t be Satisfied, Robert Gordon) which says that while on the East Coast , Bob Messinger then his manager, did a deal with Guild, Muddy got 3 guitars, amps and bass. Pete

never really much [electric] guild exposure. more a fanboy of their acoustic offerings. reviewed video, and above "gibson" ID was indeed also guild. [shamed] not aware of their 335 shaped bass offerings circa 1970's: www.vintageguitarandbass.com/guild/catalogues/1970_index.phpi plead insanity, your honesty...crazy enough about watching MW that the instruments used were a sub plot until afterward. leeophonic, good point. actually prefer his sound when taming the unruly traits of lower end instruments/amps in his early chicago career. blueshome, what the academics here call a "full ride scholarship". thanx for education, mitchfit
