Regarding your question about Donmo guitars. I have seen one or two that sound pretty good. You should ask Alan on this forum as I believe he owns, or did own a Donmo guitar.
Shine On,

I own a Donmo 14 fret tricone and it is excellent. I got it second hand so it was much cheaper than the listed $2000 + it would have cost (imagine the taxes on that).
They are hand made, you can give him your spec and they are bombproof. Donmos are interesting because they are not exact copies of the original Nationals. For example the plate covering the bridge unscrews on mine so acces to the bridge is easy. The one that I have is an early model, so the way its constructed can be seen on the outside, but that all adds to the feel of it. Think you can see it on the pic below.
Don't think that these are anything like vintage National tricones, my sound is much more brash and not as subtle, yet it has the volume and the bodies are a little bigger, but if you wanted that you could mess about with the brigde etc.
Basically if your after something that will last you and your not too bothered about labels go for it.
He also sells cones, makes a galenised body (I dont know why I like the look of that, but I do). Even a Replicon (tongue in cheak - Donmocon)

Basically you get a lot of bang for your buck, but I would always go for secondhand; if you can. Email or phone him.
Mines like this, but with engraving.
