.....That guitar is a beast. about 26inch scale I imagine. Yup! “Albright plays two guitars made by Wisconsin builder Todd Cambio under the Fraulini Guitar Company name. Both guitars are ladder-braced and very light for being large 26-1/2-inch scale-length 12-string guitars. The guitar with the elaborate purfling and binding is a Fraulini Francesca, modeled on a Tonk Brothers 12-string owned by Cambio. It’s inspired by one of the most famous images of Blind Willie McTell and has a spruce top, birch back and sides, and poplar neck with stained maple fingerboard. The other guitar is Fraulini Fenezia, with elements inspired by the work of the Acosta family of San Antonio, that made 12-string guitars used by Lydia Mendoza and Lonnie Johnson. This guitar features a spruce top with walnut back and sides.” from text accompanying

I have moved these posts out of the Music Row board because they are about guitars, not music. Fraulini guitars are probably the best of their type being built today. I know A few of these guitars and every one is superb. Among the Fraulinis I know are... forum member, Phil Thorne, has a 12 string, and my friend and guitarist extraordinaire, Ari Eisinger, has a couple of six string models. I want one! Not sure if I want the Annunziata or the Erma. Both are fantastic instruments. Shine On Michael

Alvin Youngblood Hart also has a Fraulini 12 that he was putting to very good use on his recent tour. Seems fitting, since - according to this article - AYH’s taste in old guitars is one of the things that got Todd Cambio interested in such instruments in the first place... link

AYH is touring UK soon, I’m going to see him at Saltaire in July. Let’s see if he brings one with him.

I saw Todd Albright a couple of weeks ago at the red Rooster festival in Suffolk. That guitar sounded absolutely stunning. Like a massive guitary piano. I want one too! He told me that the guitar is based on one which was sold to Todd Cambio by Paul Geremia and seems to be about the only Tonk 12 string still around...

Re Tonk, Calling Allan Jones- Professor Scratchy.
I play a 12-string Angelina obtained on the advice of Todd and Ari Eisinger who has a similar 12-string. It’s an awesome guitar.

Yes, Prof Scratchy’s “Boris” is awesome !
I put a video up on youtube recently of my Fraulini Angelina. Youtube username is : snakehips81
My usual make it us as you go along, not rehearsed type videos. Wish I could stick to just one tune all the way through but I’m trying to highlight the guitar rather than a particular song.

‘Boris’ May well be a Tonk or a Harmony creation. Named after a SMERSH baddie in a Bond film, not the currently newsworthy populist politician. I can attest that Snakehips’ Fraulini is the loudest and sweetest 12 string I’ve played. (Haven’t played blueshome’s, as it’s upside down)!

I thought it was Boris, as in Boris Karloff, as in Frankenstein, as in an old guitar with a replacement neck ? No ?

I like Todd, the way he thinks. He always sounds great and is fascinating as a performer. He kind of won me over with a comment which I'll was along the lines of - just play as beautifully as you can and you'll find your own style. I'm sure that kind of thinking went into his guitars and set up.
Another great fraulini player,IMHO. though I don't know if he plays a Fraulini twelve string, is Frankie Twelve String.
