The Tedeshi Trucks thread/comments over the last couple days has me going down nostalgia lane...
I have a hard time believing that this was almost 50 years ago. All those boys were my runnin podnas and now we are fat, bald and grey... and sadly, many have passed.
I posted something here a while back about the Bros jamming at Audubon Park but this has a bit more detail about the day. Most all the people giving their recollections are friends and its fun to read how we all remember these days. I dont have any specific memories of the days other than being in the thrall of loud wailing guitars and that they played until the cops pulled the plug.

and a trailer for a documentary about the warehouse. One of the fellows giving his recollections would have been 12 when it closed. Most of it is factual and the pictures are a trip ( did we really look like that in 1970? ) The warehouse sold booze and you had to 18 to get in. At 13, I got busted trying to sneak in through the vents with my buddies and the closest I ever got to seeing the ABB there was through the cracks...
Put a camera in front of people and they will tell you what they think you want to hear...lol
part of the lore and legend I grew up with is that Zz Tops " jesus just left chicago" is a tribute to Don Fox who came from Chicago to Nola and opened the warehouse. Zz got a boost from Don and some "Texas oil money" to finance and promote their epic world wide texas tour which elevated them from a club band playing the Balinese room in Galveston to Rock superstardom. Who knows ?
