Generation by generation all this stuff gets diluted. It has turned into romantic fantasy bullshit. It is interesting to hear Bonnie and others talk about his genius, but let's not get too carried away. His music is one of the most beautiful sounds of the 20th century. I love it almost beyond description, but it does not form THE template for what became rock'n'roll. It forms a small part of the template of what became rock'n'roll, or more to the point, 60s rock music. There were people playing music in the 1930s that resembled rock'n'roll in various areas in the USA, that were not influenced by him. I could write a long list of musicians from many States that contributed to that melting pot, but I won't. This is becoming mythology and legend, no different to King Arthur and his sword.
