Hello all, just a heads up. Jazz Festival in NOLA starts today and with 150 a day tickets Im not going for more than one day. Still havent figured which day but prob not today... the two groups I really wanted to hear today are Taj and these guys... this year, Mick is sick, fleetwood mac cancelled and we are left with "widespread panic" its an annual dilemma...lol
luckily, I can catch the Django Allstars on the radio at WWOZ.org and I can catch Taj on Vinyl. Their show is scheduled for 4:15 our time. Ill let yall figure the time diff as the last time I did, I tried to listen to Michael's Bbc broadcast 6 hours in the wrong direction. (We are minus -5 or 6 for the UK) they do a few hours of webcast from the festival every day.
I really want to see Taj Mahal as one of, if not the first concerts I ever attended was Taj Mahal and Howlin Wolf at the Jazz Fest ... 1971. I may break down and go if one of my partners in crime can convince me...🎶
All best, Jeff

Looking at the end of my drive at 11:25 this morning, I think Taj will just have to wait to see me... that is a horse plate in the concrete. At least its kept the water from getting much higher and I live on an old ridge on high ground. Stranded bored, listening to Charley Patton in my imagination... Instead of crossing the stream in front of my house... Im listening to this stream. Link to Stream www.wwoz.org/listen/player/Back in the day ( 19 years ago ) after a rainy day, all jazz fest employees were required as part of our contracts to show up at dawn and spread hay in the low spots at the fairgrounds. Now, they bring in vacuum trucks, suck up the puddles and re sod the muddy patches. Theres no point to this other than: If you come to nola for the fess bring your wellies 😁

I am sure Taj would understand, although I have seen him Wade In The Water at one or two UK Festivals.
I like that live stream, it's very cool
I am hoping to be a part of next year's NOLA Jazz & Heritage Fess!

Hi Michael, Glorious day here today. My understanding of the weather in the UK is that it rains once a year... January thru December. Rain and Large gatherings in fields are a logistical nightmare. I managed a tent at the fess and it was rated to hold 2500. I know we had 6000 for a while on one rainy day. At least the smaller acts get exposure. I almost slept through it... drifted off with the rain pattering and woke up for the last couple tunes the Django allstars played... I think it may have been the first encore but the solos were Indian, Arabic and Western inspired. I got to work with Stephan Grappeli with Diz Dizley's trio a number of times during the 70s and the allstars were a bit too frenetic for my taste... almost klezmer ? Id never heard anyone 'shred' on an accordion before so I can scratch one more thing off the seen it all list... The cultural blend I did enjoy and I always enjoy a jazz fest with actual "jazz"... lol There is also Festival international this weekend in Lafayette La... Im trying to get them in sync to get you here for a meaningful trip work wise ....https://festivalinternational.org/ Its a unique kind of fest in that it has an international theme linking french cultures from around the world. i e. One year they imported a number of French speaking folks from Africa and the cultural collision at our holiday inn was pretty spectacular. ( in a good way ) ' Messer ' is a french name Im certain monsieur...lol We need to talk about what would be a good time window for you and the logistics of Mitra. Here the festival season is either spring or fall... unless your in Texas where "hot" seems essential. Ive got myself pretty busy this week. Ill be shooting you a pm soon. We can talk on the phone now that I know I can understand your language 😀 Edit: santana scorching air molecules... note the photo of the fair producer enjoying music? linkAll best, Jeff
