Just got back from seeing John Verity and his band live in Horsham..
very good ... lovely bloke ( fellow Yorkshire man .to be expected) cracking vocal range and excellent soulful guitar player..
Most famous for hit single in 1972 with Argent called "Hold your Head up"
This is Johns cover of "i'd Rather Go Blind"

A Yorkshire night out in Horsham, sounds good to me. The REC Rooms, I've played there. Argent did make some great pop records. Hold Your Head Up was written by Rod Argent and Russ Ballard was the singer. Rod always works with excellent people, has done since the beginning with the Zombies. John was the guitarist on those records. Nice player, he has a sweet tone.

Didn't Russ Ballard play with Argent until 1974 before being replaced by John Verity? If he did, Russ must have played on 'Hold Your Head Up', 'God Gave Rock'n'Roll To You', 'Ring of Hands' etc. unless John was brought into do the sessions prior to 1974. I've probably got it wrong again, apologies if I have. Me and Mrs.PD had a great time seeing Argent with Russ Ballard at High Wycombe Town Hall on the 'Ring of Hands' tour. Now where's me vinyl? It's in there somewhere...

PD, I don't know. You may well be right. Perhaps someone could do a bit of Googling to find out. May as well have our facts correct on here.
