I'm confused....... which is not abnormal!
1) What slide did Son House use, then?
2) Graeme - Johnny? or are you talking about something for the week-end? They're soft and thin walled....

Johnny Winter PD. He was certainly thin. This thread prompts me to add to the lexicon of 'As much use as' metaphors (chocolate fireguard/ashtray on a motorbike/inflatable dartboard etc) As much use as a rubber slide. I thank yeow.

....it was mentioned 'allegedly" and on social media Not sure who the fellow was ~ or his association with D.T. ~ but he seemed pretty certain about him using original '60's / 70's 'Duane Allan era' bottles when playing live Slide On! The Flaschenmiester.

Sonny Landreth uses a Dunlop Pyrex Slide. Not out of preference, but because it’s lighter weight causes less stress to his little finger. Also, the Dunlop Slide is readily available.

Roy Rogers uses Dunlop slides too. They are a major brand and are bound to have quite a hold on the marketplace, and musicians do like the odd bit of PR here and there, especially by instrument and equipment manufacturers.
Whatever anyone says, there is a massive difference in tone between real glass and pyrex. I used to use pyrex slides on my electrics, but stopped immediately when someone handed me a real glass one.
Of course there is always that argument that it doesn't matter when you are playing electric. Well I disagree with that and believe that either the player doesn't know the difference, or isn't bothered. But there is a difference.
Not all great musicians are tone freaks.

I totally agree. For obvious reasons it’s most apparent when playing super clean electric slide.

Derek Trucks from what I can make out pays homage to Duane Allman in his slide choice, he is a very good player but not in a style that I follow, that's music, each to there own I guess.
