Hello all, this is my little recording rig in my studio carambolage... under the zoom recorder is a 2 channel battery powered mixer I used for insert shots on films... i.e., I've sent voice from a motorbike to a camera truck using it with a wireless syst. Perfect for guitar and voice, mid side stereo or just as a mic splitter as im using it pictured. Mid side stereo is supercool for drums as well as tv stereo recording as it can be collapsed to mono without phase cancellation... I used mid side to record live performances for radio here and Im wondering if the BBC did that for Michaels broadcast... the mic is an akg414bls which is a multi pattern condenser... while a nice natural sounding mic for recording, it would not be my first choice for live recording of a resonator guitar.. again this was part of my flim sound gear. I used the figure 8 setting for mid side stereo recording.. this mic is also great for split micing those amps in the background... I use a sm57 close and the Akg at various distances for natural delay... 1ft = 1.2 milliseconds. Ive been recording a lot with this rig and a jammman looper pedal... All best yall, Jeff tle

Didn't see a Wendt mixer in a long time... Having work as a location sound recordist during almost 40 years, I also have that type of recording gear at hand. A-plenty. This is very good stuff to record music at home. Since the beginning of the year, I'm recording my weissenborn "studies" with Sound Devices or SQN mixer, Neumann, Schoeps, AKG or Sanken mics. Lots of possibilities, lots of fun, and easy to set-up. Got a playlist here : www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLivfbAfzzYxLymssIMIfu5OHtJyD_6q6i

I looked at your other posts and can relate to the 40 year traveling gig... as a knob twister rock star wanna be its taken me 45 years of guitar practice and Im stll on Mel Bays learn to play the ez way... Im mostly retired now and am at the first time since 15, able to dedicate enough time to practice that ... I wish I was 15 again. At least Im still able to learn, improve and have a belatedly happy childhood. The sound quality of your YouTube recording is excellent and I really enjoyed your playing... etudes or nice meditations ? Id love to see some stills and descriptions of how your doing it... I was listening to some Cindy Cashdollar yesterday and it was the first time Ive really put my ears on that instrument. I never realized how beautiful and deep the timbre of a wiessenborne(sp) . I did quite a bit of recording using MS recording with schoeps. Clients were always amazed that a recording could sound so good using so little equipment, and ironically... cost so much...lol bob sawyer and all best, jeff

Ah ! Be 15 yo again... But it doesn't go that way. "etudes or nice meditations ?" Touché. There is something deep in that weissenborn sound. I bought a weiss two years ago, I wanted to change from the guitar. The first months were cringeworthy, but after a while it made sense. I wrote a hundred of tunes last year, and I'm beginning to play them decently enough to actually have pleasure.
Best, JPB
