If you're feeling flush, search Sheerhorn on G..tree (not sure whether I'm allowed to post links to that site on here). Can it really be worth £9k? No affiliation (I'm sorry to say).

I saw that advertised, a lot of money but someone may want it, I am not sure if they are three times the worth of a fine resophonic though Lee

There seems to be quite a few available for a third the asking price. Also a left hooker narrows the field somewhat. So where does the £9k come from? It's $2900 from Artisan.

That's a Scheerhorn built by the luthier Tim Scheerhorn as opposed to the one seen at $2900 recently which is built under licence by National Resophonic. I don't know if Scheerhorn is still building but they did used to run around $10000 each. I could never see why they were so expensive but people were clearly prepared to pay that much.

In 1998 after spending a week at a festival with Scheerhorn endorsee, Rob Ickes, I called Tim to order a guitar. He wanted a 50% deposit and had something along the lines of an eighteen months wait. I seem to remember back then it was around $3000 USD and I just couldn't commit to paying a $1500 deposit and waiting that long. At the time I was really into the idea of new sounding Dobros, but I am glad I didn't buy it because it was just a passing fad. I really only like old school Dobros. I have seen many since then and always think of a Scheerhorn as being the Dobro equivalent of a Paul Reed Smith 'PRS' guitar.

Maybe his picking finger stuttered and added an extra "0"? I did wonder whether it was a mistake of that nature, but that third zero is still there today. Full marks for optimism, though.

I have a Mahogany 'Natihorn' which is the National Resophonic Scheerhorn build. It is very nice indeed but i know exactly what Michael means - you don't get that old school dobro sound, and I miss that! Here's mine for anyone interested in what they sound like!
