This is just completely insane, but it is here to stay now! It is a marble single cone National-style resophonic guitar. Yes that is what I said! It is a marble guitar. I believe it was made ten or so years ago by the late owner of Amistar, Franta Javurek. I wonder what John & Rudy Dopyera would have made of this! Forum member, Pascal Mesnier, has seen it and probably played it. Pascal... can you tell us about it please?Shine On Michael

And then there is the plate rack of cones on the shelf. I'm loving that too!

I wonder what the weight of that would be and construction, whether it was all marble body.

Hi! 30-35 years ago, through the haze of smoke and alchohol, I've just recalled playing a one off jam gig with really old guitarist (must have been more than 45!) I used his marble bodied SG bass. Gibson neck (bolted on), 1 1/4''(ish) white marble body like a butchers counter. He claims it was a rare prototype, I douted it but said nothing. I would have to make a guess at this point but it had to have weighed in at 20+ pounds I don't mind heavy guitars and indeed own a few myself, but that thing was outrageous! Chris

I have a suspicion that Franta made this because he thought it would look similar to a duco finish. Personally, I am not sure if it should be at a garden centre, on the counter at an airport coffee shop, or on display at Barney Rubble's house in Bedrock. They could call it the Yabba Dabba Dobro Shine On Michael.

Pascal... can you tell us about it please?Shine On Michael Yes Michael I played it back in 2005 was in Plzen CZ, Franta asked me to try it, before a show I did there. It sounds awesome, was made from 2 billions years marble, BUT weighs a ton of OZ double in pounds LoL, after 10 mts playing I could not feel my thighs, the blood was blocked by the body weight... I should have a pic of us somewhere on a cd... But my office is a mess.
