Just got one of my Duolians back from Duco Master, Rik Besser at B-Fanatic Guitarworks. What a super guy to work with and the guitar is absolutely STUNNING! I had to do a quickie family Duolian photo as soon as I got it (unpacked it about 2 hours ago). I'm STOKED! Guess which one it is...

Beautiful, love those Ducos! I still have some photos of an incredible spectacular looking Duco tricone done by Rik! You can probably find it on his page; well worth a look... Frank

I'm going 2nd from left too. Different shine on coverplate and sharper relief in the "pattern".
This is such lovely work but along with the justifiable cost, there is the risk and outlay associated with the logistics too, so I guess we Limeys have to remain excluded. My stripped MMB would have long been to Rik's otherwise.

Quite a family you’ve got there!
I’m intrigued by the rope straps. Where on earth did you get those?
And how do they attach to the endpin?

Thanks everyone! It was kinda a rhetorical question, but yes it's the Sears in position #2. We waited until Rik saw what was under the fretboard flap before deciding on a finish. This is the kind of silver-ish color he found (the guitar was lacking any visible original finish). It was tough finding much info on what colors the Sears models were available in and in what years. I've only seen the green (which many believe started life as more of a silver color and changed as it aged over the years). I made the rope straps, working off originals I've seen and had come on guitars I've found. Macramé chord is perfect for these. Many of the originals I've seen were merely tied on, but I sew them, using a fly tying whip technique. They are very secure, but I don't trust them to fully support the guitar while standing. I've had vintage guitar "experts" look at some of my guitars and say "hey, you've even got the original strap!". This is the chord I currently use: CHORD link

Thanks Gaucho.
I am definitely going to make some rope straps.
Now where’s the sewing box?
