I gather Cedric Burnside is coming to the UK next year - dates to be announced...

Great news, good spot.
Looks like he's got a couple of gigs in June in Belgium and Holland, I'm guessing it'll be around then.
If I had a Poirot-style tash I'd grab the ends, twist and hazard a guess that the Red Rooster festival on May 30-June 1 might be a likely destination...
Just a wild punt though.

He's playing England and Scotland next week. My initial hunch that he might play the Red Rooster festival proved to be correct, if only I could take such foresight to the dog track! www.redrooster.org.uk/line-up/

Good hunch!
Me and Mrs bod have tickets for Chester on the 17th cos he’s not playing a town near us, but is playing near enough to our son and grandson to make good long weekend of it...
I’m hoping that the recent announcement of the festival performance might be a sign of further dates in the summer. Fingers crossed...

So, I caught Cedric Burnside in Chester last night. In short, the performance exceeded all of my expectations (which were high). On stage, he was a powerful presence, offstage as warm and welcoming a human being as you could hope to meet...
Cedric began the concert solo and seated with an acoustic guitar for a few quieter numbers, before taking to his feet and electric guitar with solid accompaniment from Brian Jay variously on slide guitar and on drums. Whilst he certainly demonstrated his capacity as a notable Hill Country guitarist in his own right, there can be no doubt that the whole thing went up to another level when Cedric took possession of the drums for the final part of the concert, carrying an already exuberant audience to yet higher levels of enthusiasm - it’s been a very long time since I’ve seen so many people at a blues gig dancing so hard with such energy.
This was his last UK gig for the meantime, tho’ he’s back for Red Rooster in the summer, so maybe he’ll do a few more dates then - if he does, I’ll be attending at least one.

Totally agree. Saw him at Rough Trade and Blues Kitchen in London, ace. Agree about the ante being upped when he picked up the sticks, at RT he played so hard and solid he totalled the bass drum pedal. Cedric graciously signed my Chickenbone John cigar box. Really top bloke with time for a chat to everybody. Original brief for that CBG was as a Wilko Johnson 'lookalike' and had it signed by the mighty Wilko last year. One guitar, two legends...

Brighton? Oh, yeah. Me and “Mrs bod” both - we’d have our tickets already, but they’re not on sale ‘til tomorrow....
Todd Albright (“support”) looks enjoyable too - plays one of those big guitars with a spare set of strings on:
