I am sad to say this is almost as sacrilegious as Our Henry or Barry Sheen not wearing Brut....
MK on a modern wooden Dobro...….

I think this is a beautiful recording of Romeo & Juliet. It features Robbie McIntosh on guitar, Guy Fletcher on piano, Ed Bicknell on percussion and Mark Knopfler, playing a Beard Dobro. They also played Good On You Son, and Paul Simon's 'The Boxer'. It was a very good session. Well done chaps!
Shine On Michael.

Anyone who can write a song and lyrics as good as 'Romeo and Juliet' can play it on what the heck he likes as far as I'm concerned. Good to see/hear Robbie in action, too. Thanks, Lee and Michael.

I wrote this one tongue in cheek, good song etc, fantastic playing and Mark could pull a tune out of a whoopee cushion...…
Looking at the Gear that players use to get there sound is interesting to a lot of people on the forum, other observations were the modernish Les Paul (Gibson sponsorship deal 58 MK model???) and without Michael digging a little deeper I initially thought it was a Modern Dobro (sorry I do not have the key for the little R trademark). Also noticed the Tone King Falcon Amp lurking in the background.
But it is the iconic association with the style O that the Grey matter is struggling with, although the tune was probably written on Marks style 2 Tricone….. The Brothers in arms album cover with the style O cover launched more or less the CD and caused the 1st death of Vinyl the old style O has been the servant for that tune ever since, barring the modern NRP,s which have also been used from time to time.
Other Brain fuddling images I have seen are Peter Green playing Modern Guitars and not his 58 Les Paul, Brian May not playing the Red Special, Tampa red playing an archtop, Django not playing the Macafferi, Muddy not playing the Red tele etc....
Has anyone strung up a pumpkin...
Happy Halloween
Lee

As the man in the orthopaedic shoes said " I stand corrected " But I notice Mark also says " You can play it on that but it wouldn't sound right" Still not sure the Dobro in the clip is a Beard as the Headstock logo is still leaning towards Dobro Lee

The guitar is a Beard Deco Phonic and was a gift from Jerry Douglas. Shine On Michael.

That MK video which Graeme posted is a marvellous guitar lesson all on it's own. Thank you Graeme.

Tommy Emmanuel has one as well. The headstock badge is similar to Dobro's, at a quick glance.
