Is anyone familiar with the Aiersi brand of reso's? They claim to be China's #1 quality build... Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

I have no connection in any way to this company, but I do know them because they occasionally try to sell me guitars.
The company you are asking about is not really a brand as such. Aiersi is a wholesale company that sells instruments to Western retailers. They do have a resonator guitar assembly unit. That doesn't mean they manufacturer any components, it means they buy in the components and assemble guitars. There are now quite a few of these in Shanghai, but Aiersi were among the first.
As a customer making a one-off purchase, I would advise you to buy from one of the known Western brands and not direct from the Chinese 'manufacturer'. If the guitar arrives and it is damaged, which is quite likely because packaging will be minimal, I believe that you would struggle to get a replacement or refund.
If you are looking for a cheap deal on a Shanghai-built resonator guitar, get a used one.
I hope that is helpful.

Thank you, Michael - very helpful info! I'll steer clear; the price was very tempting... They look a lot like Republic guitars, and I wasn't very impressed when I bought a wood body parlour style on-line in the past .

I bought one nearly 2 years ago direct from the factory. The guitar arrived in 8 days China to NZ and was very well packed, guitar wrapped in pod case and large cardboard shipping box with good packing to stop it moving around. I payed US$400 plus US$120 shipping for it (vs $780 plus 120 shipping for the 2 Republics I have owned). This is a photo they sent same day I payed for the guitar Tricone 3 by Laurie Franks, on Flickr They have been selling their Aersi brand for a while and mine has their brand punched into the headstock. IMG_1539 by Laurie Franks, on Flickr I believe most of their sales are branding for folks like Republic and 1959 Guitars here in NZ, and I think Icarus and others in the UK. After I set it up and most importantly removed the black paint from the T bridge it plays and sounds great. Contemplating a steel body single cone from them.

I have a single cone resonator that I got from Icarus, supplied by Aiersi. It's fine. They supply guitars for lots of companies. The dealers are shown on the Aiersi website, as already said, include Icarus and Republic. There is quite a lot of discussion about them on the AGF site. I thought about buying directly from them, but decided against it, because of the possibility of damage, and difficulty in returning and getting a refund.

They use the same m/heads and truss rod cover as Busker. And also have the 12fret centre dot, in common with (all? ) most Far East made 12 fret resos. Pt

Thanks guys; the Tricone looks pretty good! I'm after a wood body single cone and just might go for it. After all, any problems shouldn't be too hard to rectify unless it's a total body wipeout or something!

Well, I've got a National Tricone, National Bluegrass, the MM Blues and a fixed retiree income. So a less expensive wood model is the direction I'm in...I missed a used MM this summer here in Canada and still kicking myself!

Your finish looks very well applied, good job! I’d be interested to know what finish you used and how you applied it? I have an 8 string resonator in the works, it is plain birch plywood currently and I am unsure what direction to go in at the moment. Thanks, Mike

I’m refinishing an old birch Stella and stained with the dye then a few coats of Tru oil. Looks fantastic. I don’t think I can post photos from a mobile device unfortunately
