I've got my Luthier interested in making a copy of my two Resonator Mandolins, I have a modern National and a Dobro.
I'd really like a smallish cone & bits for both a biscuit and a Spider setup.
Cheers

I asked Fender/ Gretsch if they could sell me some parts as their resos are on the smaller side but they only supply parts for warranty repairs. Boo !
A broken Gretsch would suit me nicely, they appear to have a Continental Cone and it sounds really good.

Broken donor seems to be the way to go unless someone on here can help. I received short shrift from Gibson when I tried to purchase nickel plated hardware for my Firebird, and Fender told me I could only have a nickel plated jack socket escutcheon for a Strat through the conduit of their hallowed (by them) "Custom Shop". Thinking of Gibson's current woes, I kind of think that these big boys get what they deserve at the end of the day.
$$$ = King.

Thanks Tone, if I take you up on it I'll send you the postage. What size is the cone please ? I'm hoping to make the body the same size as my Dobro Mandolin which is comfortable to play.

Stevie, if I was running "Gretsch" I would have sent a whole box of bits out free of charge, they've all got Gretsch stamped into them. Free advertising ....
Gibson's gone downhill since Orville left in 1910.
GIbson actually had some magic periods but they have been dependant on having some clever people in charge at the time. Accountants are in charge again now I think as they were in the 70's.

Accountants are in charge again now I think as they were in the 70's. The story of todays world all over and the reason I retired from the day job in 2010.

Hello Davey, I'm pretty sure I have a 8 1/4 Beard biscuit cone that I bought years ago for a project I never completed. I won't be able to check until evening, but let me know if it could work for you. I don't think I will ever get the time to use it, so better send it to someone who will Hugues

Top left 26cm, sloped sides, good condition. Top right 26.5cm, bowl sides, reasonable condition. Bottom 26.3cm, bowl sides, poor to reasonable condition. All have had a few bits trimmed off here and there. TT
