Hello,
I'm selling my original El Trovador. It's a Kay made, serial number K410.
It has some modifications made by previous owner(s) :
- It came to me with a beard cone in it, and the original one in bad shape (see pictures) I don't know if it can be fixed. I had the beard cone replaced with a new National one which is now in the guitar. The Beard had a piezo connected to a jack (hole drilled in the side). This jack input is currently unused. I will of course include the original cone and biscuit, but I'm not able to judge if they can be restored.
- The tuners have been replaced. The new ones are excellent. However, the original ones are included. Two buttons are broken, one of them is missing, the other one is in two parts. I think the tuners are fully restorable.
- The guitar has a hotplate, the original coverplate is also included. Please note that the strings are currently phosphore bronze, you will have to replace it with nickel plated ones to enjoy the hotplate.
- There are repaired cracks on the treble side. The one close to the top is an old one, that was already repaired when the guitar came to me. Those close to the back either occured when the guitar came from the US, or were hidden by the previous owner when he sold it (I realised afterward that he never sent me a picture of this side). They were repaired by Ralph Bonte, who was recommended to me by Mike Lewis. They are stable and the repairs are less visible than the old one.
- A strap button has been added.
The action is good for both fretting and slide, and as the biscuit is new, there is room for adjustment.
I've had the guitar for a few months only, and really like it, but I've had the oppurtunity to buy an original wood body triolian, that I like even more, so I'm parting with this one. It comes in a recent Gator hard case.
I'm looking for 2600 €, which is what a paid for it before the repair and new cone. Shipping to EU only, shipping cost are 40€ if shipped with the Belgian Post, likely a bit more with UPS or FedEx.
Have a nice day,
Hugues
