No need to apologise. It is wonderful to see that Ry has released an album of this type of material.
I am just trying to keep all the posts on this connected together.
My brother, David Messer (DMP), is co-promoting the London show in October and was happy to see that it sold out almost immediately.

Thanks Michael. Yes I’ve only just seen that thread and gutted that it has sold out, I would have jumped at the chance to see him! Do you know if he’s playing anywhere else while he’s over here?

Got my tickets for London Cadogan hall in the post today, I paid a premium through a ticket reseller but I was prepared to dig deep to see Ry Cooder again, it annoys me that when you contact the venue direct they only have a small allocation of tickets and the rest go to the re-sellers who mark everything up!!!
Aside from that there is another gig on the horizon with very affordable tickets still available, John Hiatt with Sonny Landreth is in the UK in July.

Lee, if you knew how much this artist is charging, you would understand the reason for the ticket price. Luckily, on this one I don't need to buy a ticket. Shine On Michael. I might add that along with the "convenience" charges from the tikit resellers, even Ry probably wouldn't be able to survive on record sales these days. Sad that older musicians have to endure that grind at all... Add the really good production values of quality sound and lighting now becoming common and the small investment needed to go to shows doesn't seem so bad. I miss the three dollar concert days but to be honest, many sounded like a bullhorn jammed into my ears...

Just a question Michael.
Does that mean that the artist benefits from the higher price that the ticket reseller charges?
I was under the impression that the reseller was the git who made the money although I'm probably wrong again......
Hang on a minute, or does it mean that Cadogan Hall sold tickets to a reseller at a higher than advertised price and passes on the said difference to the artiste?
S'pose that's why it's called show Business.

What I don,t understand is why the venues do not charge more for tickets and put the money back into the artists pockets and maintaining the venue, instead the ticket re seller has made a lot more money than the artist and venue???
Irrespective I am happy to see Ry, this will be the 3rd time and I would guess it will probably be the last time round, it was last in 2009 with Nick Lowe and 1991 with Little Village before that.

I hope that art is still a consideration in all this grasping. Sadly I missed out on tickets.
Whatever RPC has demanded, it seems to me that it is probably extraordinarily better value than the £150-ish (without including the significant "levy") that best beloved has paid for both of us to witness (from up in "The Gods") what may well become the last gasp death rattle of The Stones.
Think how many packets of NickelMasters I could have bought with that!

It's not the artiste I was having a go at but the ticket REsellers. You know, those parasites who appear to be making money just by somehow getting hold of tickets and then selling them on at incredibly inflated prices which, looking from the outside, the profits of which go straight into the resellers pockets and not to the artist / promoter.
I am of an age that I have seen most of the greats including Ry Cooder over the years for realistic prices in small venues (I will not and did not attend festivals or stadia unless I'm / was being paid to perform or get in on a freebee).
Do we really need to have supa dupa multi million pound sound systems, engineers, lighting systems, 20 man stage crews, guitar techs, drum techs, brass techs, scratch yer bum techs, just to put on a 45 minute performance?
.....rant over.....
