Quite like that. Got a very strange look from the wife at the other end of the couch as I played it on my tablet! Best wishes to you all, John

So is this a clue ? Pattons Banty Rooster released in 1929. Getting to the root of the blues. the plot thickens. (edit again)Fek I gotta read the headings with more attention, I only read 'another rooster song'.

The squeeze box would not be out of place in a Newcastle folk club, I think this track was included in a Rolling and tumbling thread as it is also a 13 1/2 bar format. PT

It is an interesting one for sure. It is played on a button accordion (very English folk club), it is an early 'rooster' song and it is where Charley Patton borrowed or stole the lyrics for Banty Rooster Blues. Oh...and it does have a 13.5 bar loop. I don't really notice the odd bar numbers in music, they just seem normal to me.

The two guitarists on the Walter Rhodes recording were "Pet & Can"."Pet & can" were Maylon & Richard Harney.Richard Harney knew Charley Patton personally. It is possible it came from hearing Patton perform the song in the years prior to his recording of it.

I didn't know that they knew Patton. It makes a bit more sense now.

Oh surely the occasional yoke Pete. Bit of light bantam can't do any harm. (Sorry)
