Hi Jon,
You guessed right! Jim Crawford was a student of mine at one of the first Blues Weeks at Exeter university in 2001. I haven't seen him since.

Jim Crawford is a really entertaining performer and songwriter, and I'm honoured to say a good friend of mine. He's a great player, with a beautiful slide tone, a great voice and a dry northern sense of humour. In my experience, he is simply the BEST ever guitar teacher I've encountered, and I've been taught by some really top notch players from the UK and USA - if you get the chance to attend a workshop or have some lessons from him, don't miss the chance! He's a proper entertainer, not just a great musician, and a really nice guy too.

I had forgotten to mention that Jim bought an MM guitar from Robin at Busker Guitars back in 2010 or 2011, somewhere around that time. I seem to remember that Jim visited Robin in Wales to collect the guitar.

What area of the country are you in Wezzy? I am in Manchester mate. As soon as I saw his videos, I checked his tour schedule, the videos will have to do.

Thanks for the heads up. I can’t make Crawley as I’m away that weekend but I’ll keep an eye out for any future dates over this way :-)

I've known Jim for many years and echo CBJ's sentiments - he's a lovely fella and a great musician / entertainer, he rarely leaves his Devon / South West adopted home so if you get a chance to see him - go for it! The last time I was in Jim's company we were discussing the 'why's and wherefore's' of resonators & slides whilst quaffing several fine ales at Tom Doughty's wedding Slide On! Ian.

Hi! CBJ mentioned this guy has a great slide tone and God he's not kidding! And that guitar sounds fabulous too!! Someone who's name I won't mention here once said; 'describing sound is like dancing architecture'. Having said that, I'm begining to realise I've had next to no personal experience with steel bodied resonators and started wondering if I'm missing out on that 'dry' sound compared with the more 'liquid' sound of the brass bodied models I have and have played. It never seemed so obviously different to me before but sounds alot more rootsy-bluesy. Is there much of a difference to the ears of y'all out there? In the mean time, more Jim......
