I'm fairly new to amps so I hope it's not a dumb question. I just got a Loudbox Artist and Channel 1 is way, way lower in volume (with all the settings being the same) than channel 2. I tried different settings, guitars (with different PUs), cables, everything I could think of and it's the same deal. My guitar played thru Ch 1 isn't very loud, even with the gain and master volume turned way up. Thru Ch2, with all settings being the same, I can just barely turn the master volume nob and it's very loud. I didn't notice this when demoing them in the stores. I also tried both channels with a mic and XLR (Sure SM 58) with the same results. Is this normal and if so, can you explain why? Please advise ASAP as I may need to return it. Thanks in advance!

It's working (channel 1) but doesn't seem as hot as channel 2 (which I would consider, maybe incorrectly, to be the mic channel). I don't have a lot of experience with 2 channel amps, so it could be user error. I'm not sure I understand how to balance the 2 channels as there aren't individual volume controls, just the Master Volume. I can balance them somewhat with the gain adjustment, but that doesn't seem like a good way to do it, right? It sounds fantastic with my guitars with Highlanders, National Slimlines and an acoustic parlor with a K&K pure mini, but I need to figure out what's going on. I have a message in to Fishman now...

All the dials on the front panel are set the same for both channels. If I plug into ch1 and play and then switch and plug into ch2 with out any changes, ch 2 is much louder. To get the two channels to be balanced between the instrument in ch1 and a mic (sm58) in ch2, the master volume is way up and the ch1 gain is at about 8 (assuming a scale of 10) and ch 2 gain is at about 2. If I put the mic into ch1 and the instrument into 2 it's still the same situation. Ch 2 is much hotter. Doesn't seem right...

Hi gauche,, have you checked the the pad button for that channel is not pushed in as that will decrease the volume. I double checked with amp and could well be the problem. All the best Malc

Probably not the issue, but I read that these have separate 10db pad controls, one for each channel, to tame hotter inputs - you don’t have one on and the other off do you? Just a thought...

According to the manual for a loud box mini ch1 input impedance is a 10m ohm high impedance input and ch2 is a 2k ohm lower impedance.
The lower impedance input facilitates using devices like an iPod headphone output for playback thru the amp.
HTH, all best,
Jeff

Thanks for the replies. I checked the Pad button first thing and they are both off. Creolian, the mini is a whole different animal than the Artist, so im not sure that applies. Im going to a shop and demo theirs to see the difference. Im pretty sure ther is a problem with mine...

Gaucho, I have kept out of this thread because I don't know this amp at all.
Going to a shop and trying another is the best thing to do. Take your guitar with you.
Shine On Michael.

Hey, Did you ever resolve your issue? I have exactly the same problem with Channel 1 of my Loudbox Artist, bought new during lockdown. Settings identical, same instrument and cable, Channel 1 a third the volume and sound quality of Channel 2. Though it is only just out out of warranty I've only recently started using it in anger, so noticed the problem. The supplier is being less than sympathetic and suggesting I get it repaired locally (at my expense of course).
