Interesting. Looks lovely. He seems to be in the habit of selling on his guitars used in different phases of his career which surprises me a little. I remember seeing some others he sold through his Facebook page. I wonder if he's keeping his National!
Hope he comes back soon. Great artist. I wonder where he'll go next musically if he does.

Yes it would be great to hear him again in the future. Wish some other musos would take a break when they've nothing to say!

I have never seen or played a Mule resonator. It looks great. The tailpiece is not as elegant as a National one....I would be tempted to swap it.

That’s obviously a really early Mule and there have been a lot of changes and refinements in the 360 odd instruments that have been made since then - including a slightly different tailpiece. Have a look at the website. I love mine!

I prefer those early (it says it's #8) F-holes. There was a member here that ordered one and then sold it because he didn't care for the tone. Personally, I've never played one but I'd like to. Charlie Parr sure coaxes some great tone out of his!

I am hoping to see Charlie Parr next month and will hopefully see a mule in the flesh, I will report back to all.
They are a leap of faith but the backstory is really good, currently have way too many guitars but you never know.....

I've played three Mule reso's (the newest one just yesterday!) I'm very 'old school' regarding reso's and IMHO although the neck shape of a Mule is very nice indeed (just the right shape & feel for me) I'm not a big fan of the 'industrial' finish - if I were ever presented with one the first thing I'd do is send it to Rik Besser for a duco finish!
Slide On!

If these sound as good as an old National, then fine. But this one looks ugly to me (could be the angle of photo) and 'home made' (my guitars look 'home made' but I don't charge over $1000)

I’ve got a mule tricone which has a great sound, though it is stiff compared to my Delphi. Really good for Tampa red slide though. It probably needs a good set up I suspect.

Don't mean to take the topic off the rails, but if Charlie Parr is playing near you, go and see him! He played my town last night and it was great. He had a Guild 12 string though, no resonators in sight, Mule or otherwise.

Sorry, but it looks like a National with a bad refin and the wrong tailpiece.

But this one looks ugly to me (could be the angle of photo) Looking at a video the basic shape looks fine (so it's a bad photo, I guess anything under $2000 isn't worth a good one), just the tail piece and the finish that look untidy. PT

If Charlie Parr is travelling light I might just take a single cone along to hear somebody really play one better than I ever will. The single cone beltona should do the trick Lee

Lee, good to see that you still have the Dave King Dobro. There's a couple there I didn't know you had. The Rickenbacher looks nice. I can't see in the photo, is it a six string?
Oops....drifting off topic!
Shine On Michael.
