A "resonator" that's a bit different??? Have a look at this eBay item - "Do8ro resonator guitar. Item number: 7395853115." Wood body, truck hubcap "resonator" (probably only really functions like a horn), metal dining plate cover. Looks interesting but wonder what it would sound like? ?

Alan..... Don't stop, you are finding some brilliant stuff!!!!! The guitar above looks like it was hand crafted by Doctor Van Helsink and possibly used in an attempt to keep vampires from playing country music.

Hi Warren,
Apologies for not writing sooner, but your message is in a thread that I don't often check.
A mushrom mod' is when you either move, replace, add to, or take away the 'pit props' (real name) to adjust the sound. These posts/mushrooms and their positioning are intregral to the tone & sound quality of a resophonic guitar. To explain exactly what it all does and where to place them is not something I can do without diagrams and long explanations!
There have been some threads and discussions on this forum covering this subject, but.....if you want to start a new thread in the 'NATIONAL AVENUE' section of this forum, I am sure various forum members will help and advise.
Shine On, Michael.

Nice pic that I saw the other week. Look at the size of the guy's hands, bet he could give Bukka White a run for his money Ol' Big Hands (check out the woman posing in the car) Rough as anything, but I think its just a good pic. Custard Collegian

Alan, that's a great photo. Do you have any info about the photo...dates, names....anything? It looks like they stepped straight off the Bonnie & Clyde film set! As for the custard Collegian....that is definitely one for reggae singer, Yellowman Shine On, Michael

Dance Hall Styleee -
No I don't have any info on them at all, it was a picture that was for sale on eBay. Looking at it they must have had some cash to have that guitar and that car (if it was in the depression). I can find the dates for that car from my father in law - strangely enough I think he had that record too. I guess you and Mark must have a rough idea on the dates for the O.
A few things come up on eBay in the old photos section (pre 1940) on the USA eBay. Not very often that a resonator appears but lots of guitar related stuff.

Late 20's to mid 30's coupe (plus loads of other stuff thats not really relevant) - ties in with guitar date I suppose

May be of interest "Its a dying instrument," says Jimmy Hawton , 78, a steel guitar player and collector, Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006. Hawton sits with a 1920s replica of a tri-cone accoustic steel guitar built in 2004. He has 28 steel guitars and has a long-life passion for the Hawaiian instrument. Bwowsing through all these pages, I notice quite a few images, including some I posted have vanished. I'll try and correct my links, but if anyone has copies of the other 'vanished' ones can they either repost them or send them to us and we can host them on our server? Thanks, Colin McC UPDATE: Missing images solved. See my post on page 21 of this thread. michaelmesser.proboards.com/thread/10/interesting-rare-photos-resophonic-players?page=21
