Hi Jono
There are two answers to your question.
1 - without changing the neck angle you are limited by the break angle from the tailpiece to the bridge saddle. Whether it can be lowered is only something I can answer if you post a couple of photos showing break angle and string height at the 12th fret.
2 - By changing the neck angle (resetting the neck), the string height can be as low as you want it. I would only recommend you having that done if you can take the guitar to one of the luthiers that I know can do the work properly. Have it done badly and your guitar will be ruined.
Let's see some photos please
I hope that is helpful

Hi Jono,I've got mine set at 3mm on the 6th string I mostly play slide but have no problems fretting. String guage makes a difference as does tuning. Lots of information on the forum but unless you're looking to spend a lot of time faffing about get it close and persevere! Best wishes, John

Michael posted before I did! Listen to him he has them made! Just trying to save you a hassle if maybe dropping the tuning would help. Best wishes, John

Here's a picture of the portion with the break angle from an earlier thread and comments from 2010 so I don't know whether the game plan has been upgraded with 7 years futher experience/knowledge on the subject: michaelmesser.proboards.com/thread/3246

Hi Jono,
In your first post on this thread you mention having your guitar upgraded. What was done to it?

Hi Michael
It was a while ago but i had new tuners,a national cone and national bridge. This was done and set up by someone who knows what they are doing.

If it worked previously with the old set up and had a lower action, and if all your man did was change the cone and bridge, there's no reason why the action can't be lowered again. Its quite likely that the 'upgraded' cone and bridge have slightly thicker dimensions, and your man didn't take this into account. TT

Cheers guys ..since it was done I haven't been doing a a lot of barre cords ..when I do they are sound crap .isn't technique I can play them on guitars with a lower action. To be fair my guitar guy did ask me at the time if the action was a bit high..thought my tone would suffer if I lowered it

Jono, it is really difficult to see in that photo, but it looks like you have no spare break angle. You could do an easy fix and fit a short tailpiece, that would give you a little more break angle and enable the bridge to come down a bit. My advice at this point, is to take it to your luthier.
