Got mine! It seems fine so far,on a par with a slimline, easy to install and move from guitar to guitar. I hope you like it LJ, quick delivery from Chickenbone John I'd recommend it . Best wishes, John Snap! Sounds good on the Aria Parlour, just waiting for the Kay nut to dry and be cut then I'll try it on that one.

Hi lonelyjelly, On some guitars I've found that with my amp I get best results angling the pickup so I thought I'd mention it - here's a jpeg of it on my stella in case you find the info useful. I thought it was wacky to do that but I showed it to MM during a lesson and he reminded me that they also angle pickups on on electrics so I feel better about it. You might find the info useful ...and I hope you got it with a return in case it doesn't fit right! Lawd lawdy, Harriet

Thanks for the tip, Harriett. Makes sense to me :-) If it doesn't fit then I'm sure Chicken Bone John will do a return. If not I'll try it on my Yam FG170 or Sigma 00M15S. They're both quite small in stature...
Glad to hear yours both sound dandy, PD and and big B!
Best
Lew

Hey guys, being that I'm totally skint (even having to sell one of my MM guitars, sob!) I went and sold my Jim Dandy and am trying to sell my Sigma 00M-15S, both of which are the only two guitars I can think of that would suit the Kent pickup, which I bought from Chicken Bone John. My question is whether or not anyone can advise if they're any good with solid spruce tops? I've a Blueridge tenor guitar that could feasibly fit the bill but just wondered if any of you had any experience mixing such an instrument with such a pickup. If not I guess I can ask about a refund...don't want to be that guy though what with CBJ being a cool little business.
Any thoughts welcomed with open arms.
Cheers
Lew

Yes Lew, it'll work well - mine is good on my Aria six string, x braced parlour which has a solid cedar top.

Last time I saw Mike Savage was in Kings Lynn in October.
I think you'll find that it is Bob Chaffer (Vintage and Traditional Guitars) who is based near Cannock

My little Washburn is looking for a new home. Coordination & dexterity have now deteriorated to such an extent I cannot play fingerstyle and I have other instruments for slide & lap steel. PM me for more info, photos etc.

Those Washburns are great sounding guitars for pre-war blues picking.

Guitars: Another vote for vintage ladder-braced parlour guitars. Lightly-built and made of birch yields a recognisably classic blues sound (by the bucket load). That said, I had a vintage (circa 1900) Washburn rosewood and spruce parlour for a while, wasn't the finger-picking delight that I'd hoped for, but was fantastic for slide! Mike Savage: Doesn't have a website. He does sometimes put a few bits on eBay uk - guitarman*2007, but the best way to get hold of him is by phone. Don't think I've ever reached him via the landline, but plenty of success with his mobile number, which he is happy to have given out here: 07901727557 Bit of a jaunt to get to Kings Lynn from most places, but worth the trek. While the pictures at the other end of this link are a few years old, they do reflect the kind of stock he generally has michaelmesser.proboards.com/post/50282 He has been known to have the odd OS Stella (he had two on the wall when I was up there last year) and various other brands, but is something of an enthusiast for Harmony Supertones. And as Blueshome has indicated, not about the high end of the market - but good for reliably playable instruments at a reasonable price (I got my fully-repaired Supertone for £400, including discounts for cash and collection in person). (No affiliation) I bought a Stella off Mike several years ago. A great piece His eBay UK seller ID is now: keboo6452_be6f21n And he is on Facebook at: Mike Savage Guitars Cheers
